Do not worry about your life. Well ok then…got it. That phrase is nice to hear and easy to say, but much harder to live out.
“Here is the bottom line: do not worry about your life. Don’t worry about what you will eat or what you will drink. Don’t worry about how you clothe your body. Living is about more than merely eating, and the body is about more than dressing up. Look at the birds in the sky. They do not store food for winter. They don’t plant gardens. They do not sow or reap—and yet, they are always fed because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are even more precious to Him than a beautiful bird. If He looks after them, of course He will look after you. Worrying does not do any good; who here can claim to add even an hour to his life by worrying? –Matthew 6: 25-27 {The Voice}
Maybe it is easier to believe that God cares more about you than the birds of the air and the plants on the ground. Think about how He provides for His creation through nature; He looks after them. Aren’t we more valuable than plants and animals? He created us in His image, after all. He will also look after us. How many times has our worrying actually helped the circumstances and situations we find ourselves in? Hmm… I can’t think of any. I know worrying adds more stress to my circumstances. Lord help us trust in your care and provision.
“So do not consume yourselves with questions: What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? Outsiders make themselves frantic over such questions; they don’t realize that your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things will be given to you too. So do not worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow worry about itself. Living faithfully is a large enough task for today.” –Matthew 6: 31-34 {The Voice}
God knows exactly what you need. What does He ask of us? To keep our eyes focused on Him, and to seek Him above all things. When we do this, our perspective shifts. Our troubles and circumstances begin to seem small compared to the glorious and mighty God we serve. We set our eyes on Him, and ask Him where to take the next step. And step by step, He will show you the way. Step by step, He will provide for your daily needs. He will give you manna for the day. Choose to be grateful for the next step, for the next provision, for the next gift. What we know is that our God is good, and that our God is always with us, and that our God cannot lie. He will provide to those who ask. So ask and wait expectantly for God to meet all of your needs according to His glorious riches. And watch, He will do it. Believing for and with you.
“Know this: my God will also fill every need you have according to His glorious riches in Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King.” –Philippians 4:10 {The Voice}
“Your ears will hear sweetwords behind you: “Go this way. There is your path; this is how you should go”whenever you must decide whether to turn to the right or the left.” -Isaiah 30:21 {The Voice}
