Today at the Beloved Blog, we welcome one of our Beloved Moms, Mandi Aycock. Mandi is one of those friends that you often thank God for– she is loyal, kind, and always full of grace and truth. Not to mention, she’s  a gifted writer– enjoy her wisdom, enjoy her humor, and enjoy this insight into her beautiful heart for God!

I’m in that season y’all and I’m about to get real with you my sisters. This is not pretty and for the faint of heart. Random hairs that don’t belong where they are popping up, the grey hair, the southward movement of gravity and I’m saying whoa!!! I’ve had a talk with myself and it wasn’t a good one. On a whim I did a chemical peel on my face because you know just in case Boaz is wondering around out there looking for me well maybe my skin could look better or at least distract him from the random grey hairs waving at people that my old eyes haven’t discovered yet.

A few days later I stumble in the bathroom, look in the mirror and it was not a pretty sight. My face is covered in dead skin. Dry skin, dry like the desert kind of skin. I need you to appreciate the visual. We’ve seen those pictures of dry land that is so thirsty that it has opened up and cracked. I grab a washcloth open up the faucet and splash water on my face. The skin drinks it up looks better and within seconds the moisture evaporates and I’m back to where I started. I begin to scrub the best I can, it’s tender yall, the dead skin is holding on tight and is refusing to turn loose and let go. Ladies this is where The Lord began to whisper to my soul at 4:15am! He whispered into my heart, “Just like that dry cracked skin that’s waiting to fall away, there is something new underneath. It’s pink and fresh. Child what are you holding onto that’s new but can’t be revealed because you won’t let go?”

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come.” This scripture began to roll thru my heart. If I want to fully walk into a new season, I can’t carry all or even some of the old with me. I’m going to have to do my part to lay down the dead. But right here ladies is the beauty of it- He doesn’t require us to drag it around or scrub it up, tote it thru life. It’s as simple as placing it in His hands. Give it to God. Praise God! He has promised that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. I don’t know about you but I could surely do better by standing taller if I shrug off some of these burdens that are worthless, why I am clinging to them? They are dead weight, costing me energy and focus!

Ladies, we don’t have to live in a period of dead and dying, there is something new. Let’s walk into it fully following our king. When the enemy starts to whisper to us of a woman that used to be or show us our failures, turn that worship music up and dance before The Lord, throw your hands up and call the name of our Savior and King that said that everyone of us was worthy and enough, period, end of discussion! Jesus died on a cross for us to walk out of the dead and dying. Accept the new that He has offered it’s free for the taking.

Anyone want to find community through suffering?! Um… no thanks. But, if we’re honest with our selves… don’t we all suffer? Sure, some suffering is much more obvious to the outside world… divorce, cancer, the death of a loved one. Suffering can also be found in the not-so-obvious… the husband who is worried he won’t […]
